Way back in 1998 Dragon Warrior Monsters came out for the Gameboy. From the outside it looks like a standard catch and train team builder game. However, if you haven’t played it, it has a complex and rewarding breeding system. Through careful planning you can breed some absolute power house monsters from some of the most basic and accessible monsters.

In the guide I’m going to walk through the breeding strategies to build my personal favorite team of three: Jamirus, King Leo, and Orochi.

I’ll back into each Breeding Chain and at the end of each  section I’ll provide the list of base monsters needed. And at the very end a full list of all monsters needed.

All three are very attainable, proper planning makes it much easier, you will want to take advantage of the NPC near the breeding cave who will let you confirm and swap the gender of Eggs before you hatch them.  Planning out each level of breeding allows you to really streamline your route and minimize the number of repeats or rare monsters you have to catch.

Jamirus

2x Gremlin

2x Anteater

1x Dracky

1x Phoenix

OR if you don’t have a Phoenix you can breed a Phoenix by breeding any Bird with a DracSlime, and you can breed a DracSlime by breeding any Slime with any Dragon.

I did get lucky and was able to get a Phoenix from a random NPC trainer.

Orochi

Shopping List

1x Sky Dragon (Walk under the flying Sky Dragon at the top of the GreatTree to get a Sky Dragon Egg)

1x BattleRex (Gate of Anger)

1x Dragon (Gate of Villager)

1x Gremlin

This is definitely not the more efficient breeding guide for Orochi, you can do it with easier monsters to obtain, if for example you want to get an Orochi earlier in your play through. For example, you can catch 2x DragonKids in the Gate of Memories (the gate with MadCat) and breed them to get a GreatDrak much sooner than beating the Gate of Anger. I had already gotten BattleRex by the time I was breeding a GreatDrak, just due to leveling other monsters up for breeding for King Leo and Jamirus.
